"Social software can be viewed in several important ways: as a medium or channel that supports an exchange, a tool for accomplishing particular tasks, or an ecology where people, practices, and values connect, interact, and evolve." Also significant, and not overlooked by the author, is that social software consists not of a single application, but rather, of a range of applications, including wikis, blogs, suprglu, and more, thus offering the user a choice of which application to use in a given context.
