Elegido el arabista Federico Corriente Córdoba para ocupar la silla K
El Pleno de la Real Academia Española (RAE) ha elegido en su sesión de hoy jueves, 6 de abril, al arabista Federico Corriente Córdoba (Granada, 1940) para ocupar la silla K, vacante desde el fallecimiento de Ana María Matute (1925-2014), el 25 de junio de 2014.
Federico Corriente, licenciado (1963) y doctor (1971) en Filología Semítica por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, es en la actualidad profesor honorario de la Universidad de Zaragoza, en donde ha sido catedrático de lengua y literatura árabes. Es autor de numerosas publicaciones de su especialidad y de distintos diccionarios de árabe-español y español-árabe.
La convocatoria de esta plaza se publicó en elBoletín Oficial del Estado (BOE) del 14 de febrero de 2017.
La candidatura de Federico Corriente fue presentada por los académicos Juan Gil, Miguel Sáenz y Aurora Egido. También era aspirante a la plaza el dramaturgo José Sanchis Sinisterra.
Tal como establecen los estatutos y el reglamento de la RAE, el nuevo académico tendrá que leer próximamente su discurso de ingreso en la corporación para tomar posesión de su plaza.

On October 17-20, 2017 in Moscow the Research Council for the Problems of African Countries and the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences hold the 14th African Studies Conference titled “Africa and Africans in National, Regional and Global Dimensions.” The Conference will take place on the premises of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The working languages are Russian and English.
The Organizing Committee would like to encourage you to submit panel proposals, focusing on any particular topics related to the Conference’s umbrella theme. The deadline for panel proposals submitting is December 1, 2016. The Organizing Committee will be glad to consider any panel proposals (within 500 words in English or both English and Russian) received by this date. The information to be submitted alongside with the proposal includes the proposed panel convenor(s)’ full name(s), title(s), institutional affiliation(s), full mail and e-mail addresses, telephone and fax numbers. The list of prospective papergivers with their particulars is desirable but not compulsory.
