EU Copyright Directive: EUA issues guidelines for universities

The EU Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market was adopted by the European Parliament in March and endorsed by the Council of the European Union in April. Member states started transposing the adopted Directive into national law on 7 June in a process that will end in June 2021. Turkish scholar Ayşe Gül Altınay faces prison for supporting peace petition

On 21 May, the renowned Turkish Scholar Ayşe Gül Altınay was sentenced to two years and one month in prison for “aiding a terrorist organisation as a non-member”.
She is accused of being one of the more than 2 000 signatories of the 10 January 2016 declaration “We Will not be a Party to this Crime” of The Academics For Peace Group.
