More money in the system but less certainty

Massification of higher education has increased at a faster rate with the deregulation of commonwealth supported student places through the demand-driven system. The outcome is many more students from under-represented cohorts. But, unfortunately, attrition is higher among these new students, partly because of inadequate student financial assistance but also because universities are still scrambling to respond to these students’ needs. Union boss made leap from theory to praxis

Just a few weeks off the shop floor, Alison Barnes is settling into her new role as president of the National Tertiary Education Union. University Ranking for Kurdistan

The number of national and regional rankings continues to increase. The Ministry of Education in the Iraqi region of Kurdistan has just published a ranking of public and private universities. The best performer based on the primary criteria was the University of Kurdistan-Hewler (UKH) in Erbil which was in first place for six primary criteria, second for student satisfaction and third for employability.
