EUA has responded today to the "Fab - Lab -App" report of the High Level Group of leading experts chaired by Pascal Lamy, President Emeritus of the Jacques Delors Institute. Created by the European Commission in December 2016 to explore new ways to maximize the impact of EU Research and Innovation Programmes, the High Level Group formulated 11 recommendations, among them a call for doubling the EU investment in research and innovation, linking it strongly to the future of Europe. The FAIR project – Focus on Automatic Institutional Recognition – report has just been published and makes a wide range of recommendations to national authorities, ENIC-NARIC centres and higher education institutions.
They concern such issues as the quality assurance of recognition and admissions procedures, appeals mechanisms, the turnaround time of applications, and the provision of accurate and timely information to applicants. The recommendations are intended to foster full adherence to the Lisbon Recognition Convention and to promote a ‘recognition culture’ in which procedures are transparent, efficient and fair. More...

Registration is now open for the 12th European Quality Assurance Forum (EQAF), which will take place on 23-25 November 2017 in Riga, hosted by the University of Latvia.
Under the title ‘Responsible QA – committing to impact’, the Forum will focus on the need for quality assurance (QA), whether aiming at accountability or enhancement, to be carried out in a transparent and responsible manner. This means finding ways of responding to the needs and interests of internal and external stakeholders. EQAF 2017 will explore how this can be done in practice, examining issues such as communication, ethics and the concept of change in QA. More...
The EU-funded EFFECT project support universities in these processes by facilitating discussions and cooperation at European level. It is currently developing a set of shared principles for institutional strategies for learning and teaching which addresses issues such as leadership support, collaboration with external stakeholders, learner-centred approaches and the nexus between education and research. The EFFECT project – a joint initiative of the European University Association and its partners, funded under the Erasmus+ programme, invites higher education teaching staff to join a workshop to be organised on 27 September 2017 (from 13:30-17:30 tbc) at University Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC) in Paris on how to foster inclusion and citizenship skills in higher education teaching.
This call for participation takes place in the context of EFFECT- Feasibility Study for a European Forum for Enhanced Collaboration in Teaching project (Dec. 2015 to Nov. 2018) funded under the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission.
