EUA delegation attends G7 University Summit in Udine, Italy (29-30 June 2017)

The G7 University Summit, part of a series of events organised in the context of Italy’s Presidency of the G7 group, took place in Udine, Italy, from 29-30 June.
Under the heading “University Education for All. Actions for a sustainable future”, the event provided higher education actors from the G7 countries – university leaders, students and other organisations active in the field – with an opportunity to exchange views on a set of issues regarding the future of higher education at a global level. Achieving Open Access by 2020: tracking universities’ progress and guidelines for the future

As stated in its Roadmap on Open Access to Research Publications (2016), “EUA aims to contribute to a publishing system that is simultaneously fair and transparent for stakeholders, in particular universities, research institutions, libraries, researchers, research funders, learned societies and commercial publishers”. Join the EUA-CDE Annual Meeting “Digitalisation: A game changer for doctoral education?”

The EUA Council on doctoral education will be live on Friday 16 June, from 12.30 to 14.00 (CEST) during the plenary session on “New Skills in Doctoral Education and Research Training”.
The session will focus on how the doctoral schools, which are uniquely positioned to respond to the demand for new skills in a digital society, can shape the professional capacities of highly skilled doctorate holders. The speakers will reflect on the needs of a fast-changing society and highlight the role doctoral education plays in universities by helping society to address the challenges of digitalisation. EUA contributes to a common understanding of quality assurance in Africa

During the training course, key African QA stakeholders gathered together to discuss how they can cooperate and support the harmonisation of QA in the African higher education context. During the event, the participants received an update on the first draft of the African Standards and Guidelines in Quality Assurance (ASG-QA) and discussed how the proposed document feeds into the Pan-African Quality Assurance and Accreditation Framework (PAQAF). EUA contributed to the event by sharing its experience and lessons learnt in developing regional collaboration on QA in the context of the European Higher Education Area. More...

The USTREAM project provides you with new opportunities to shape the European agenda on efficient university management

EUA is organising a series of events with the aim to foster the exchange of good practices in the field of strategic, efficient and autonomous management of universities by using collected institutional and system-level evidence.
At the first peer learning seminar, organised jointly with Universities UK on 1-2 June in London, discussions focused on policy frameworks for efficiency and effectiveness. More than 20 university leaders from 15 countries across Europe exchanged good practices in the field of governance, strategy and reporting, and also examined various opportunities that exist in terms of joint procurement, shared services, data and learning analytics, space utilisation and other areas. Call for university experts in the field of energy

The UNI-SET consortium and the European Platform of Universities in Energy Research and Education (EUA-EPUE) have launched a call for university experts in the field of energy.
The initiative follows the publication of the “Roadmap for European Universities in Energy” and the “European Atlas of Universities in Energy Research & Education”. It intends to draft strategic thematic documents providing guidelines for the update of education and research programmes. The initiative is titled “Energy Pan-European Action Agendas for Universities: Identifying New Paradigms in Energy Higher Education and Research”. More...

UNI-SET discusses science & skills for renewable energy during EU Green Week & launches call for experts

Hosted by KU Leuven, Belgium’s largest university, the event provided a platform to discuss the development of knowledge and skills for an energy system increasingly dependent on renewable energies. Participants welcomed keynote speeches from the European Commission, outlining the European strategy for renewables as part of the Energy Union, EIT InnoEnergy and the United States’ National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
