DIES – conference: “Female Leadership and Higher Education management in developing countries”, 28- 29 June 2017, Bonn

Gender equity in higher education management positions seems to be hard to achieve, due to a bundle of difficulties women face. Identifying barriers for gender equity, listening and discussing good (and bad) practices from all over the world will help developing adapted and useful measures.
The international conference will be organised in the framework of the “Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies (DIES)” Programme – which is jointly conducted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK). Given its high relevance for development policy, the question of how to strengthen gender balanced management of higher education institutions will become of focus for DIES activities in the next years. New EU-Africa strategy: a major role for Erasmus+ and higher education cooperation

The European Commission's new Communication on a renewed impetus of the EU-Africa partnership, launched this week, has strong focus on education and youth.
The new Communication sets out how the two continents can work together on common challenges, and in particular in the ways that Africa can deal with the impact of its rapid population growth and an increasingly young population. It is estimated that Sub-Saharan Africa needs to create 18 million new jobs each year up to 2035 to absorb new labour market entrants, compared to the 3 million formal jobs created today. More...

EU-South Africa Policy Dialogue
