Conference: ‘Connecting through Culture - A Vision for Global Citizenship’, Abbaye de Neumünster, Luxembourg (4-6 June 2014)

LogoThe conference “Connecting through Culture - A Vision for Global Citizenship” will take place at Abbaye de Neumünster, Luxembourg, from 4 to 6 June 2014.
The focus of the event, which is co-organised by the University of Luxembourg, is to examine the critical role of culture/broad education “for developing students who think broadly, who recognize and respect cultural diversity and heritage, and whose engagement in the arts serves as a conduit to personal authenticity and innovation”.

Conference: ‘CareerCon 2014’, Palermo, Italy (8-10 May 2014)

LogoThe “CareerCon 2014” conference will be hosted by the University of Palermo in Italy from 8 to 10 May 2014. CareerCon is the European Convention of Career Centres that was launched in 2009 as a result of the EUE-Net project.
Representatives of career services “come together to present their centres’ best practices” and “discuss the future development of cooperation between universities and enterprises”.
The 2014 conference’s main focus will be on benchmarks and assessments as well as graduate tracking with the aim to “evaluate and enhance the quality and effectiveness of your career service”.

ORPHEUS 2014, Creating Career Opportunities for PhDs in Life and Health Sciences, Lausanne, Switzerland (3-5 April 2014)

LogoORPHEUS (Organisation for PhD Education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in the European System) is organising its 9th International Conference in Lausanne, Switzerland, from 3 to 5 April 2014. The theme of this year’s conference, taking place at the University Hospital Center, is “Creating Career Opportunities for PhDs in Life and Health Sciences”.

Fourth International Nobel Economic Congress, Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine (21-24 May 2014)

Towards an EU ‘Mobility Scoreboard’: new Eurydice publication

LogoIn response to the 2011 Council of the European Union Recommendation on promoting the learning mobility of young people, the Eurydice network* has published a feasibility report “Towards a Mobility Scoreboard: Conditions for Learning Abroad in Europe”, which covers 33 countries (including all 28 EU member states) and has the reference year 2011/2012.
The report proposes indicators on key thematic issues covered by the Council Recommendation (displayed in both map format and scoreboard fashion): information and guidance; portability of grants and loans; foreign language preparation; quality of learning mobility; and recognition of learning outcomes. The idea is to provide a framework for monitoring progress and comparing conditions for learner mobility across European countries. Read more...
