La Marine nationale compte 5 400 femmes dans ses rangs, soit 14 % de son effectif total. Elles composent également 9 % des effectifs embarqués. Les femmes occupent 50 % des postes administratives, y compris sur les postes embarqués. Certaines spécialités sont fortement féminisées comme les contrôleurs aéronautiques (38 %), les spécialistes des systèmes d'information et de communication (22 %) ou les matelots opérations navigation (30 %).
