RAMAA II: Breaking new ground for a sub-regional doctoral school on literacy evaluation

RAMAA, the Action Research: Measuring Literacy Programme Participants’ Learning Outcomes project, is to support the establishment of a sub-regional doctoral school on literacy evaluation as part of the second phase of its operations.
Stakeholders and researchers from the national universities of the 12 participating countries – Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mali, Morocco, Niger, Senegal and Togo – gathered at the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) in Hamburg in April to discuss the founding vision and next steps for the work. Representatives of 40 cities from 20 countries took part in a UNESCO regional meeting on learning cities and education for sustainable development in Latin American and the Caribbean.

The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) is dismayed at the lengths James Cook University (JCU) management appears willing to go to, to prevent staff hearing the case against its proposed enterprise agreement.

Murdoch Enterprise Agreement Terminated, Decision Shows Employment Laws Broken

The Fair Work Commission has today delivered a decision terminating the Murdoch University Enterprise Agreement from 26 September 2017.
The decision by Commissioner Williams to terminate the collective agreement that covers over 3000 employees at the Western Australia-based university is extremely disappointing but not unexpected. This decision is yet more evidence that the rules are unfair and that there is urgent need for change to redress the balance. More...
