Over 400 projects in #SciChallenge competition

ESU OnlineThe European Students’ Union is glad to announce that over 400 projects by  young people between the ages of 10-20 from across Europe participated in the Horizon2020 SciChallenge competition. They submitted projects related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) topics. 12 winner projects were selected, following the jury and online ratings. ESU OnlineThe European Commission issued a call for a Public consultation on the “Recommendation on Promoting social inclusion and shared values through formal and non-formal learning”.

Together, Moving Forward to continue in 2018 and 2019

ESU OnlineESU launched last year a small grants programme for student-led initiatives working to support refugee equal access and participation in education and society. ESU advisor in European student energy-saving initiative

ESU OnlineSAVES2 builds on a previous project called SAVES. Between 2014-2017, the original SAVES expanded the National Union of Students in the United Kingdom (NUS-UK)’ Student Switch Off campaign to four other European Union countries (Lithuania, Greece, Cyprus and Sweden). SAVES2 will continue running Student Switch Off in the existing partner countries, and grows the campaign to a total of seven countries (with Bulgaria, Romania and Ireland joining the cohort), to help students get into good energy saving habits. SFS: Swedish students closer to better welfare!

ESU OnlineFor many years the Swedish National Union of Students’, SFS has called attention to the negative effects Sweden’s current health care system has on students. The system’s large sum of qualification days (30 days compared to a working individual’s single day), and also lack of rehabilitation opportunities and responsibility has led to students dropping out of their studies, getting financial difficulties, and also having a harder time recovering. SFS has worked through campaigns, opinion pieces in media, and several referral responses to different governmental investigations concerning health care systems. The Swedish student movement’s long term work on improving the health care system for students now finally seems to come to a conclusion that will improve the welfare of Swedish students. More...
