Asians Dominate Foreign Students' Population in China

Attorney-General to consider further protections for academics from s35P offences

In January 2015, the NTEU wrote to the Attorney-General George Brandis seeking clarification about the impact of the first tranche of counter terrorism laws upon Australian academic freedom, in particular, section 35P which relates to public disclosures about 'special intelligence operations'. In a reply to the NTEU, the Attorney General confirmed that an academic engaged in the usual practices of academic writing and research would be credible evidence against a conviction under the new s35P provisions of the ASIO Act 1979. 70% of foreign applicants decline attending Todai

Seventy percent of foreign students who passed the entrance examination of the University of Tokyo’s College of Arts and Sciences for a special course to start in the autumn of the 2014 school year declined to enroll, it has been learned. 
The college granted admissions to 61 foreign applicants in the course for foreign students, but 41 of them declined to enroll at the nation’s top-notch university. Many of them are thought to have chosen other leading universities abroad. More...

Australia Sells Education to Chinese Students at Double the Price

Chinese students are flocking to Australia, making up a fifth of some 400,000 people seeking an education Down Under.
