Registration open for the European Universities Games Coimbra 2018

The European University Sports Associations (EUSA) is celebrating a new edition of the European Universities Games, that will take place in Coimbra (Portugal) from 15 to 28 July 2018.
The event will gather 4,000 athletes from different universities that will compete in 13 different disciplines such as Badminton, Basketball, Football, Judo, Tennis, Volleyball among others.
In addition to the sports competitions, the European Universities Games will include workshops and conferences about Anti-Doping, Inclusion, Dual Career and other aspects of sports within the university environment.
The initiative aims to involve more students into the practice of sports and also transmit their inherent positive values such as teamwork, tolerance, fair play, unit, social inclusion and the value of practice.
The European Universities Games have the support of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. More...

Competition for the position of Rector at Kaunas University of Technology

The Council of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) representing a forward-looking, diverse, and open community of more than 2,000 employees and more than 10,000 students, is announcing a competition for the position of University Rector for a five-year term of office.
Electronically signed documents can be submitted by email to rektoriaus.rinkimai@ktu.lt; paper documents can be delivered in person or sent by registered mail to the Document Management and Administration Office of KTU at K. Donelaičio street 73, room 112, 44249 Kaunas.

Skills for the future a priority of the Bulgarian EU Presidency

A decade after its accession to the European Union (EU), Bulgaria took over the rotating EU Presidency for the first time on 1 January, and its programme focuses, among other priorities, on digital economy and skills for the future.

La séance plénière du comité de suivi a enfin été l’occasion, pour les représentants de chaque territoire, de souligner la nécessité de renforcer la coopération et militer pour plus d’actions communes pour la protection des ressources et le développement harmonieux des îles de l’Océan Indien. La stratégie du programme de coopération INTERREG V Mayotte/Comores/Madagascar a pour ambition d’asseoir la place de Mayotte dans la région et à positionner l’île en tant que pôle de co-développement et de rayonnement de l’Europe dans l’Océan Indien.
La participation de Mayotte aux côtés de La Réunion dans l’élaboration et la mise en œuvre du programme de coopération transnationale de l’UE ne peut que favoriser l’échange d’expériences et l’intégration de nos deux territoires dans les organisations de coopérations bilatérales ou multilatérales réunissant tous les pays de l’Océan Indien. HEFCE Chair receives Knighthood

HEFCE’s Chair, Tim Melville-Ross, has been awarded a Knighthood in the 2018 Queen’s New Year Honours list.
Tim was originally appointed as Chair of the HEFCE Board in January 2008 and his current term of office will cease on 31 March 2018. In addition, he currently chairs the Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and is President of the Institute of Business Ethics. More...

University of Bath: retirement terms of Vice-Chancellor

The Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE) has received a letter asking us to look into governance issues concerning the University of Bath’s decision on the retirement terms of its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell.
The letter was sent by Councillor Joe Rayment, a member of Bath and North East Somerset Council, as he has said publicly.
HEFCE is dealing with Councillor Rayment’s letter in line with our Public Interest Disclosure (PID) process. We are making initial enquiries and have written to the University of Bath in this connection.

Amiens, capitale européenne de la jeunesse en 2020
