Universities from Bangladesh snub Asia’s top 100 ranking for 2015

Computing Power Rankings: Saudi University Enters the Top Ten

The CWUR Rankings: New Methodology Includes Prizes and Awards

These rankings are notable for avoiding surveys and data submitted by institutions and focussing entirely on outputs. The eight “objective and robust” indicators are: Quality of Education, measured by prizes and awards won by alumni, Alumni Employment, measured by alumni who are CEOs of major companies, Quality of Faculty, measured by faculty who have won major prizes or awards, Publications, measured by number of research papers in “reputable” journals, Influence, measured by the number of papers in “highly-influential“ journals, Citations, measured by highly cited research papers, Broad Impact measured by the h-index, and Patents, measured by international patents filings. Scimago Rankings: Research Output Rising in Asia and South America

They are published annually by the Scimago Lab, a Spanish company, and include twelve indicators for research, innovation and web visibility. South Africa Tops THE Pilot Ranking

South Africa leads first ‘snapshot’ university ranking

By Karen MacGregor. South Africa dominates an initial, ‘snapshot’ ranking of African universities, produced by Times Higher Education, or THE, and based only on research influence. A future Africa league table will be drawn from THE’s global rankings but will use “bespoke metrics” to be thrashed out at a continental summit being held in Johannesburg at the end of this month. Après avoir réalisé la semaine dernière le palmarès de l’influence des comptes Twitter des universités et grandes écoles françaises (pour le lire, cliquez ici), nous vous proposons cette semaine un nouveau classement sur l’influence des principales personnalités. Toujours réalisé à partir du logiciel Followerwonk, qui a mis au point un algorithme représentant l’influence d’un compte Twitter, ce score d’influence est établi grâce à de nombreuses  variables : le taux de retweet (composante principale du score), le nombre de tweets en fonction du temps, le nombre de followers, le nombre d’abonnements, etc. (pour consulter le palmarès 2014, cliquez ici).
