Avec pour objectif de permettre une inclusion sociale et économique sûre et durable des détenus, le projet VIP propose des échanges de bonnes pratiques et d'analyses entre les différents partenaires européens. Si l'inclusion des détenus est l'objectif ultime de ce projet, la formation des professionnels est l'objectif permettant d'y parvenir. En effet, le projet VIP propose une formation pour les professionnels qui souhaitent travailler avec le milieu pénitentiaire et qui sont intéressés par l'apprentissage de nouvelles compétences, pour éviter ainsi toute situation et intervention inappropriée. Free online course provider offering new hope to formerly incarcerated

It’s time to bring college educations back to prisons

The REAL Act would reverse a 1994 ban on federal aid in the form of Pell grants for incarcerated people to access postsecondary educational opportunities in prison.

Columbia Will Divest From Private Prison Companies

Improve prison education to cut crime, UK government urged

The Prisoner Learning Alliance (PLA) which represents 23 organisations including the Association of Colleges, the Open University and the Association of Employment and Learning Providers, has today urged ministers to give education a greater priority in prisons to help reduce the cost of repeat offending, which is estimated to be between £9 billion to £13 billion a year. Democratic Bill on Pell for Prisoners

Bringing Back Pell for Prisoners

HomeBy Paul Fain. The U.S. Department of Education is poised to announce a limited exemption to the federal ban on prisoners receiving Pell Grants to attend college while they are incarcerated.
Correctional education experts and other sources said they expect the department to issue a waiver under the experimental sites program, which allows the feds to lift certain rules that govern aid programs in the spirit of experimentation. If the project is successful, it would add to momentum for the U.S. Congress to consider overturning the ban it passed on the use of Pell for prisoners in 1994. Read more...
