EUA-CDE ethics and integrity workshop draws record attendance

The EUA Council for Doctoral Education (EUA-CDE) organised its 10th thematic workshop, “Ethics and Integrity in Doctoral Education and Research Training,” on 18 and 19 January 2017 in Lisbon, Portugal. Hosted by the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, the event saw the largest attendance in CDE history with 138 participants from 87 higher education and research institutions from 25 European countries. A very Happy New Year from EUA!

These include EUA’s Annual Conference that will take place at the University of Bergen in Norway on 6 and 7 April 2017. Under the title “Autonomy and freedom: The future sustainability of universities”, it will focus on university autonomy and academic freedom in a European context marked by political, economic and societal challenges. The discussions will be supported by EUA’s soon-to-be-updated Autonomy Scorecard. European universities call for immediate rethinking of Trump’s executive order

EUA is deeply concerned by the executive order issued by US President Donald Trump and its immediate and unnecessary consequences on international researchers, university faculty and students.
The order, temporarily preventing entrance into the US of persons from seven Muslim-majority countries, unfairly disrupts not only individual lives but is potentially damaging to the free flow of people and ideas that is paramount in higher education and research. More...
