IAU International Meeting - From HEEFA to SDG4 : Building on Achievements - Report released

The Final Report of the International Meeting "HEEFA to SDG4: Building on Achievements" organised by the IAU, in partnership with the Jaume Bofill Foundation, has been released. The meeting took place in Barcelona, Spain from 7 to 9 October 2015 and brought together representatives from higher education institutions and organisations in 26 countries as well as UNESCO. Building on the success of the IAU HEEFA (Higher Education for Higher Education for All) project, the international meeting provided an opportunity for the higher education community to discuss the place and role of higher education in the Education 2030 Framework For Action that supports the Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 on Education. ICT4IAL - e-Accessibility Guidelines available in 23 languages

The partners of the ICT4IAL Project, namely:

  • Daisy Consortium
  • European Agency for Special Needs and Inclusive Education
  • European Schoolnet
  • Global Initiative of Inclusive ICTs (G3ict)
  • International Association of Universities (IAU), and
  • UNESCO

are proud and happy to announce the release of Guidelines for Accessible Information. The Guidelines are available free of charge as an open educational resource and are dowloadable in 23 languages. More...

IAU represented its Members at COP21

On 4 December, IAU represented its Members and took part in a COP21 panel debate on “Climate change as part of the curriculum from kindergarten to university”, organized by the The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). Dr Hilligje van 't Land, IAU Director, Membership and Programme Development, spoke on the role of Climate Change education for ESD and presented examples of curriculum innovation from around the world. The conference session provided space for debate with civil society on a variety of formal and non-formal education, teaching and research initiatives aiming at informing and empowering people to better understand the urgent global challenges the planet is facing today. UNESCO's Support to IAU WHED Portal

The IAU is glad to acknowledge UNESCO's support to the IAU WHED Portal by the addition of UNESCO's logo on the Portal; UNESCO's help in data collection as from next year; and a grant to launch the collaboration.
The partnership agreement is signed for a period of 4 years, starting in August 2015. It was officially launched at IAU International Conference held in Siena, Italy in October 2015. More...
