ECMI - Open Method of Co-ordination (OMC) Programme

The project The Aspect of Culture in the Social Inclusion of Ethnic Minorities: Assessing the Cultural Policies of Six Member States of the European Union evaluated the cultural policies introduced in National Action Plans (NAPs) on Social Inclusion under the European Union´s Open Method of Co-ordination (OMC) by six member states (Estonia, Latvia, Czech Republik, Slovak Republic, Slovenia and Sweden) in terms of their impact on promoting social inclusion of ethnic minorities, including Roma/Sinti groups. The specific added value of this evaluation was the piloting of a set of Common Inter-Cultural Indicators (CICIs) feasible for cost-effectiveness analyses and benchmarking within the EU. More...

2016 Exchange on the religious dimension of intercultural dialogue - The role of education in the prevention of radicalisation

It takes place at the Palais de l’Europe (room 1, Webcast), on 9-10 November 2016, following the World Forum for Democracy.

A platform of resources and references for plurilingual and intercultural education

Résultat de recherche d'images pour "coe.int"After producing reference documents such as the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages taught as "foreign" languages, the Council of Europe's Language Policy Unit proposes a new instrument, in the form of this Platform, enabling member states to benefit from the experience and expertise of other member states in formulating their programmes relating to languages of schooling and all language teaching.
Access to education and success at school depends heavily on language competences. Some pupils may be disadvantaged as soon as they start school because their competences do not match the school's expectations: children from disadvantaged backgrounds, children from migrant families, or children whose first language is a regional language. But all, whatever their language repertoire, must learn to communicate in school. A command of the language(s) of schooling is vital to success at school and social advancement. More...
