New horizon in Look East Policy
. WORLD-CLASS INSTITUTION: Japan has many things to learn from a multicultural country like Malaysia.
TUN Dr Mahathir Mohamad advocated the "Look East Policy" when he took office of the prime minister in 1981, its main purpose being to provide Malaysian students with the opportunity to study in Japan and to bring up excellent engineers who could contribute to the country's industrialisation.
At the same time, it was expected that the students acquire Japanese cultural virtues such as work ethics, discipline and punctuality to be applied for the further development of Malaysia. Read more...
