MOOCs: The Future is Now
By Tim Goral. Did you ever notice that when a new technology comes along, it is already pretty widely in use by the time "they" (those mythical decision makers) decide that it has the potential to change things? It's like not being able to see the forest for the trees.
Think of personal computers, smart phones, tablets, and so on. Each technology was heralded as a potential game-changer long after it had become ingrained in society. I suspect that's because new technologies are readily adopted by the masses, who quickly determine their worth, and figure out on their own how best to use and adapt them. It's only then that the tech "visionaries" see the potential and deem them "the next big thing."
That's the situation we have now when we talk about MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). More...
