Le TempsPar Jean Abbiateci. Ici commence notre plongée dans le monde des diploma mills, ces moulins à diplômes qui vous permettent pour quelques centaines ou milliers de francs, et sans consommer trop d’efforts ni de temps, de devenir docteur en aéronautique ou de décrocher un MBA en informatique.
Le principe de base est simple: à l’inverse de la contrefaçon de diplômes, une autre activité florissante sur Internet, qui vous permet d’acquérir un faux diplôme d’une université reconnue – Harvard ou Colombia –, le diploma mill vous vend un diplôme tout ce qu’il y a de plus authentique. Le seul problème, c’est que celui-ci n’aura aucune valeur, puisque l’école qui vous l’octroie n’est pas reconnue par les autorités du pays hôte. Voir l'article...

Moving beyond just ranking - The CWTS Leiden Ranking 2016

Today at CWTS we are releasing the 2016 edition of our Leiden Ranking. The CWTS Leiden Ranking is a web tool that provides a suite of bibliometric statistics for a large number of research-intensive universities worldwide. We try to design and construct our ranking in accordance with the most recent insights in the field of bibliometrics and scientometrics. New editions of the ranking therefore usually include improvements compared with earlier editions, for instance by refining the methodology, improving the presentation of the statistics, or increasing the number of universities included in the ranking. Mapping investment in adult skills – which individuals, in what learning and with what returns?

This project for the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills had two elements. Firstly it used publicly-available data to map funding in adult skills by government, employers and learners.
Secondly, findings were analysed alongside evidence of the benefits and returns from adult skills in order to assess which types of learning, for which types of learners, lead to the greatest economic returns in the labour market, learning progression and wider benefits, such as health and wellbeing outcomes.
