More on Blogging Referee Reports and Hacking Peer Review

More on Blogging Referee Reports and Hacking Peer Review
Just to be clear - I am in the camp that believes that we should do away with prior-to-publication peer review. That said, Seb Paquet explores the concept of blogging peer reviews in this short item. More...

Blogging Glossary

Blogging Glossary
Some good fun, this blogging vocabulary passes the accuracy test, being in my perspective a good overview of blogging terminology. More...

Stephen Downes' Aussie blog

Stephen Downes' Aussie blog
So I'm back, having returned safely from my marathon flight from Perth, via Singapore and London, to complete my round the world trip. This link is an interesting take on this OLDaily category feed, which because of recent content has effectively become a blog of my Australia trip. Blogging Communities And The Knowledge Enterprise

Blogging Communities And The Knowledge Enterprise
It seems (to me at least) that every time something good comes along - like RSS and blogging - someone takes it and turns it into an 'enterprise version'. The lure of low hanging fruit is irresistable, I suppose, but there is something just wrong, in my mind at least, with the concept. Blogging worked fine before the enterprise, it will be broken after, plugged in as it will be is monitoring and reporting, link filtering, content standards and control, and more. More...

Incorporated Subversion

Incorporated Subversion
James Farmer has moved his Incorporated Subversion blog to a new location, giving it (finally) its own website. And he launches the new site with a flair, beginning with a longish article titled Communication dynamics: Discussion boards, weblogs and the development of communities of inquiry in online learning environments. 5 Questions for the CEO of eCornell

http://www.insidehighered.com/sites/default/server_files/styles/large/public/student_affairs_and_technology_blog_header.jpgBy Eric Stoller. I get a lot of PR pitch emails. Most of them aren't necessarily a good fit for this blog. Oftentimes, the pitch is longer than a novel and I literally can't get through it before I press archive or delete. Once in a while, I get an email that's got a good hook, isn't too lengthy, and offers up something that rises above the pile of pitches. More...

Designing Blogs for Education

Designing Blogs for Education
It's written entirely in point form and readers must unfortunately deduce the links to look at the examples, but this presentation on the educational use of blogs is a fascinating exploration. See especially the sections on 'what is an education blog', 'issues', and 'features of my education blog'. More...

Blogs, Learning Objects, and Other Cool Stuff

Blogs, Learning Objects, and Other Cool Stuff
As promised, today's OLDaily comes to you live from Uluru - see here for a picture - and I lead it off with slides used for my talk at Alice Springs (and broadcast to nine other learning centers throughout the Australian Outback) this morning. I know it's a bit early for the Monday OLDaily but there's no reason to wait - no guarantees on when Tuesday's will be, though, as I am back in Alice Springs for a chat tomorrow, then off to Adelaide tomorrow evening for meetings Wednesday. The Real Threat of Blogs

The Real Threat of Blogs
In my talks here in Australia I have recommended that people read Douglas Rushkoff. It's worth mentioning in passing that he also has a blog, which he updates from time to time. His observations often get to the heart of the matter. More...

And Speaking of the Ripping and Mixing...
Stew. That's a good word for what Alan Levine is describing. Blogdigger is a service very similar to Edu_RSS that allows you to define a set of feeds to be harvested and which sends out topic-specific feeds. More...
