CBU president urges major merger of Halifax universities

By Erin Pottie. The president of Cape Breton University is calling for fundamental reform of Canadian universities and the creation of a Halifax “super-university.” 
Speaking at the Canadian International Conference on Education, which his university is hosting in Sydney, David Wheeler said big changes are needed if universities are to maintain international competitiveness. 
“Now is not the time to be playing for draw; universities have got to be playing for win and that means we need a strategy,” Wheeler said in an interview following his address Monday. More...
