DEFINE project: Joint EUA-HUMANE Seminar on funding efficiency

http://www.eua.be/images/logo.jpgEUA and HUMANE (the Heads of University Management and Administration Network in Europe) are jointly organising a seminar focusing on the impact that changing higher education funding modalities and merger processes, as funding efficiency measures, have on university management. The event is hosted by the University of Aveiro, Portugal, from 22 to 23 November 2013.
As the latest update of the EUA Public Funding Observatory shows, the current economic and financial crisis has exacerbated pressures on universities. The efficiency of HE funding in terms of the capability to meet certain policy goals in a cost-effective way is becoming an increasingly important topic. To explore and discuss the associated challenges for university management, HUMANE and EUA jointly organise this open seminar within the framework of the ongoing DEFINE project – Designing strategies for efficient funding of higher education in Europe.
The seminar is open to the leadership and senior administrators of all HUMANE and EUA member institutions. It includes three thematic sessions in which speakers will give insights from their experience with performance-based funding, mergers and excellence schemes at institutional level. Case studies will also be complemented by a European overview and latest EUA research and exchanges with the participants. Participants will be asked to provide their input to the topic and thus actively contribute to shape the analysis and outcomes of the DEFINE project.
Registration for this event is available through HUMANE’s website.
