EUA reacts to key European Commission policy documents on higher education and research

The “Renewed EU Agenda for Higher Education”, launched on 30 May, outlines the European Commission’s policy priorities for higher education over the next few years. It focuses on four key areas, which include tackling future skills mismatches and promoting excellence in skills development; building inclusive and connected higher education systems; ensuring higher education institutions contribute to innovation; and supporting effective and efficient higher education systems. EUA and IUA release the agenda for the second USTREAM peer learning seminar

Organised by EUA and the Irish Universities Association (IUA) in Dublin on 4 and 5 December 2017, the second USTREAM peer learning seminar will focus on national and institutional approaches to the delivery of efficiency in higher education institutions.

Excellence, synergies and alignment: Lamy Group sketches out future EU research and innovation programme

EUA has responded today to the "Fab - Lab -App" report of the High Level Group of leading experts chaired by Pascal Lamy, President Emeritus of the Jacques Delors Institute. Created by the European Commission in December 2016 to explore new ways to maximize the impact of EU Research and Innovation Programmes, the High Level Group formulated 11 recommendations, among them a call for doubling the EU investment in research and innovation, linking it strongly to the future of Europe. A new report on institutional recognition procedures published

The FAIR project – Focus on Automatic Institutional Recognition – report has just been published and makes a wide range of recommendations to national authorities, ENIC-NARIC centres and higher education institutions.
They concern such issues as the quality assurance of recognition and admissions procedures, appeals mechanisms, the turnaround time of applications, and the provision of accurate and timely information to applicants. The recommendations are intended to foster full adherence to the Lisbon Recognition Convention and to promote a ‘recognition culture’ in which procedures are transparent, efficient and fair. More...

EQAF registration and call for contributions

Registration is now open for the 12th European Quality Assurance Forum (EQAF), which will take place on 23-25 November 2017 in Riga, hosted by the University of Latvia.
Under the title ‘Responsible QA – committing to impact’, the Forum will focus on the need for quality assurance (QA), whether aiming at accountability or enhancement, to be carried out in a transparent and responsible manner. This means finding ways of responding to the needs and interests of internal and external stakeholders. EQAF 2017 will explore how this can be done in practice, examining issues such as communication, ethics and the concept of change in QA. More...
