- Drama: Lynn Nottage, for Sweat. Nottage is a faculty member at the Yale University School of Drama and the Columbia University School of Arts.
- History: Heather Ann Thompson, for Blood in the Water: The Attica Prison Uprising of 1971 and Its Legacy (Pantheon). Thompson is a historian at the University of Michigan.
- Biography: Hisham Matar, for The Return: Fathers, Sons and the Land in Between (Random House). Matar teaches at Barnard College.
- Poetry: Tyehimba Jess, for Olio (Wave Books). Jess is a professor at the College of Staten Island of the City University of New York. Read more...
La discrimination de genre existe aussi en science
La recherche scientifique n'est pas épargnée par ces questions, notamment la publication académique, une des pierres angulaires du travail scientifique. Afin d'être validé, tout article doit être approuvé par des chercheurs indépendants. Ceux-ci sont évidemment censés être sélectionnés en fonction de leurs compétences et non pas de leur sexe. Or une équipe internationale s'est penchée sur la question du genre de ces examinateurs. Les résultats sont étonnants : les femmes scientifiques, déjà minoritaires dans leur domaine, sont sous sélectionnées pour la révision de papiers. En cause, la tendance naturelle et inconsciente qu'ont les éditeurs, majoritairement masculins, à sélectionner quelqu'un de leur sexe. Voir l'article...
