Parents Abandon Guardianship Scheme

Organisée par l’Institut de recherches et d’études sur les mondes arabes et musulmans (IREMAM), le département d’études moyen-orientales (DEMO) et le département d’histoire de l’Université d’Aix-Marseille à l’occasion de la rentrée des masters "Mondes arabe, musulman et hamito-sémitique (MAMHS)" et "Histoire, Civilisations, Patrimoine". Née en 1986, Alice Zeniter est une romancière, scénariste et metteuse en scène de théâtre française. Ses premiers romans obtiennent de nombreux prix littéraires, en particulier : Jusque dans nos bras (Albin Michel, 2010), Sombre dimanche (Albin Michel, 2013) et L’Art de perdre (Flammarion, 2017).
Largement autobiographique, ce dernier ouvrage décroche notamment le prix Goncourt des lycéens et le prix littéraire du Monde ; il est aussi un gros succès de librairie en France.Son héroïne, Naïma, éprouve (tardivement) le besoin de comprendre l’histoire des siens sur plusieurs générations. En effet :
« L’Algérie dont est originaire sa famille n’a longtemps été pour [elle] qu’une toile de fond sans grand intérêt. Pourtant, dans une société française traversée par les questions identitaires, tout semble vouloir la renvoyer à ses origines. Mais quel lien pourrait-elle avoir avec une histoire familiale qui jamais ne lui a été racontée ?
Son grand-père Ali, un montagnard kabyle, est mort avant qu’elle ait pu lui demander pourquoi l’Histoire avait fait de lui un « harki ». Yema, sa grand-mère, pourrait peut-être répondre mais pas dans une langue que Naïma comprenne. Quand à Hamid, son père, arrivé en France à l’été 1962 dans les camps de transit hâtivement mis en place, il ne parle plus de l’Algérie de son enfance. Pour cette rencontre avec les étudiants de Master des départements d’histoire et d’études moyen-orientales de l’université d’Aix-Marseille, vendredi 13 septembre de 14h à 16h, dans l’amphithéâtre de la MMSH, l’auteure exposera les motivations qui l’ont conduit à écrire cette fresque, les difficultés rencontrées et les solutions retenues pour articuler littérature et histoire (la « grande » ; celle de sa famille). Son intervention sera enfin suivie d’un débat avec la salle.

« Princes et Vagabonds »
Le cinéma Saint André des Arts, Paris, 6 ème, dans son cycle « Découvertes » va projeter le documentaire « Princes et Vagabonds » (1h 13) en novembre 2019. Un film que j’ai mis 4 ans à réaliser. La réalisatrice, Fabienne LE HOUEROU, est Directrice de recherche au CNRS.
Le documentaire « Princes et Vagabonds » (2019, 1H13) est documentaire de création tourné au Rajasthan sur une communauté de musiciens que l’on appelle les Manganiars. Il est question d’un film à intention anthropologique qui explore plusieurs pistes. La question de la culture musicale indienne, celle du genre et de la reproduction sociale, enfin celle de la globalisation de leur répertoire musical et de leurs itinéraires. La composante musicale du film est prépondérante.
Chaque projection en novembre sera suivie d’une conférence où seront associés étudiants , spécialistes et connaisseurs du monde indien.
Les séances auront lieu de 13 heures à 15 heures au mois de novembre 2019, les 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15,16, 17, 18, et 26 novembre. La dernière projection aura lieu le 3 décembre 2019 de 13H à 15.

What they're not saying, of course, is whether your copy of Windows will shut down if it spots any unauthorized content, or whether it will shut down only if it finds unauthorized Microsoft content. But really - it will be just too tempting for Microsoft not to sell its shutdown service to software vendors, content providers - anyone who wants to lock down content. From my perspective, this opens a huge gaping hole in the market for a software vendor to sell to people and businesses who demand full control over their own computers. I thought this might be Apple, but it appears they will play the content lockdown game too. More...

Nothing against poets, but it seems to me that poetry is the art form that would least benefit from a pay-per-listen service. Yes, poetry is hard to do well, but this doesn't stop a million wannabes from trying, which has resulted in a glut in the entire market and almost zero employment prospects for poets. Ironic, too, that the service launched with a reading of Chaucer, which has been public domain for as long as there have been poets, it seems. More...
