Modernity and innovation in minority communities

Catalonian Member of the European Parliament Josep-Maria Terricabras, co-chair of the European Parliament’s Minority Intergroup spoke about the importance of language during the afternoon session of panel discussions entitled Modernity and Innovation in the Minority Communities. Hit the Road: FUEN is ready to start the Minority SafePack petition campaign

The Minority SafePack Initiative made history. It is the first initiative to win a case at the European Court in Luxembourg against the Commission’s decision to refuse registration of an ECI. The language of culture is always easier to understand then the one of politics. It is more open, and more straightforward. We need to use this language when we try to understand a different culture, and when we need others to understand and accept us. Culture connects us Europeans with each-other. Parliamentary-Debate in the German Bundestag - recognition for minorities in Germany and in Europe

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the "European Charter of Regional or Minority Languages" (June 25th), a parliamentary debate takes place in the German Bundestag, in which FUEN President Loránt Vincze and representatives of the FUEN member organizations are paticipating.
The debate is supported by a proposal from the coalition parliamentary groups CDU / CSU and SPD to strengthen the political participation of the four recognized minorities and the speakers of the regional language Niederdeutsch (Lower German language). More...

Favourable conditions for a successful FUEN Congress in Kolozsvár/Cluj-Napoca

The competition for hosting the EUROPEADA 2020 has begun

After the three successful European football championships of the autochthonous national minorities, hosted by the Romansh people in Grisons/Switzerland in 2008, the Lusatian Sorbs in Germany in 2012 and the German-speaking South Tyroleans and the Ladins in South Tyrol/Italy in 2016, the FUEN is looking forward to a fair competition regarding the decision of who will host the EUROPEADA 2020. FUEN Congress: 60 million autochtonous national minorities, one goal

The FUEN Congress has started in Cluj-Napoca/Kolozsvár/Klausenburg, Romania, and for the upcoming days the capital city of Transylvania, Erdély, Siebenbürgen will also be the capital city of minorities. The highlight of the event will be the launch of the petition on Friday to support the Minority SafePack Initiative. "We launch an appeal to the European minority communities, member states, the regions, the European institutions, the political families, governments and parliaments to become friends of the Minority SafePack Initiative. We need partners in convincing the European citizens and the EU Institutions, that cultural and linguistic diversity should not only be a nice slogan.
