L'AIU dénonce les dernières démarches du gouvernement turc qui a démis des milliers de membres du personnel du ministère de l'éducation de leurs fonctions, et du Conseil de l'enseignement supérieur (YOK) qui a ordonné à plus de 1500 recteurs et doyens de démissionner. Ceci est en complète contradiction avec les principes mêmes de la liberté d'expression et du respect des droits de l'homme, ces valeurs défendues par l'AIU tout autant que celles de la liberté académique et de l'autonomie institutionnelle.
