O21 : anticiper le monde qui vient

Dans un monde en mutation où bientôt "Code [will be] law", il ne s’agira pas nécessairement de devenir tous codeurs. L’objectif sera davantage de le comprendre globalement pour pouvoir le critiquer, améliorer les processus et les adapter à nos besoins : en un mot, pouvoir être acteur de cette technologie.

#Balance ton 8 mars ! 3 pages "Spécial 8 mars"

Depuis l’automne, autour de « l’affaire Weinstein » et de la mise en place du hashtag #MeToo, on assiste à une diffusion et une médiatisation sans précédent des paroles de femmes victimes de violence. Signe d’une libération à l’oeuvre, cette parole trouve ses opposantes en celles qui assimilent le féminisme à une « haine des hommes et de la sexualité » etpour qui une femme victime d’agressions sexuelles ne devrait pas « se sentir traumatisée à jamais ». Ainsi, se battre pour le droit des femmes serait finalement empêcher la Terre de tourner en paix. Être féministe serait en quelque sorte ajouter de l’agressivité dans un monde qui en serait déjà saturé. Plus que jamais, il convient de lutter contre cette dangereuse percée qui ne sert finalement qu’à légitimer le maintien de l’ordre établi et de la domination masculine. Plus...

This is an interesting paper from last November that reminds me a lot of the work being done by Audrey Watters. The value of this paper is an informed history of the history of AI and its critics (though I would have given credit for 'the view from nowhere' to Thomas Nagel rather than Alison Adam). It has a number of funny examples of deep learning systems misinterpreting images, though in all fairness a lot of humans would misinterpret them as well. More...
