Monographs and open access

The Monographs and Open Access Project was set up to consider the place of monographs in the arts, humanities and social science disciplines, and how they fit into the developing world of open access to research. The project was led by Geoffrey Crossick, Distinguished Professor of Humanities at the School of Advanced Study, University of London, and was commissioned by HEFCE in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
Evidence to support the project was gathered through an programme of consultations, surveys, data-gathering and research activities. The research was supported and shaped by an Expert Reference Group of publishers, academics, librarians, funders, open access experts in the UK and overseas. More...

Submissions to the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) published

The 1,911 submissions made by 154 UK universities to the 2014 REF have been published on the REF website. The submissions included 52,061 academic staff, 191,150 research outputs (such as journal articles, authored books and book chapters); and 6,975 case studies of the impact of research. More...

New service to support open access in the post-2014 REF

HEFCE has agreed to fund the development of a new shared service to support compliance with the policy for open access in the next Research Excellence Framework (REF). The Monographs and Open Access Project considers the place of monographs in the arts, humanities and social science disciplines, and how they fit into the developing world of open access to research. Italy - supply of vocational training in Italy: highlights and findings from ISFOL OFP

In the first half of 2014 results of the vocational training supply (OFP) survey were published by the Institute for the Development of Vocational Training for Workers (ISFOL). The survey assessed the regional vocational education and training (VET) offer with focus on structure, organisation, trends and dynamics. Training workshop on financing skills development

Cedefop, in cooperation with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the European Training Foundation (ETF) is organising an expert seminar on financing skills development in Turin, Italy (9-13 March).
The purpose of the workshop is to provide an opportunity for knowledge-sharing about mechanisms of financing training and the conditions that need to be in place for specific systems to provide appropriate funding for skills development.
