LGBTQ Students on Campus: Issues and Opportunities for Higher Education Leaders

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) students are more visible than ever on U.S. college campuses. Yet they remain both sexual-orientation and gender-identity minorities (that is, as a numerical proportion of the student body) and minoritized (that is, targets of discrimination and oppression by those in power). Referring to these students as minoritized on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity highlights the role of societal heterosexism, which privileges heterosexuals, and cisgenderism, which privileges people whose gender identity aligns as society expects with the sex they were assigned at birth. Although it is common on campus to conflate people with these minoritized identities into one “LGBTQ” group, in reality, sexual orientation and gender identity are different concepts. More...

Frédérique Vidal, ministre de l'Enseignement supérieur, de la Recherche et de l'Innovation

Frédérique Vidal, présidente de l'université de Nice-Sophia-Antipolis (UNS), est nommée, mercredi 17 mai 2017, ministre de l'Enseignement supérieur, de la Recherche et de l'Innovation dans le gouvernement d'Edouard Philippe.
Présidente de l'université de Nice-Sophia-Antipolis (U.N.S.) depuis avril 2012, Frédérique Vidal est titulaire d’une maîtrise de biochimie (1988), d’un DEA de l'Institut Pasteur option virologie fondamentale (1989) et d'un doctorat de sciences de la vie de l’université de Nice Sophia-Antipolis (1993).
Frédérique Vidal rejoint l'université de Nice en 1995 comme maître de conférences et devient professeure des universités en sciences de la vie en 2004. Ses activités de recherche portent sur la génétique moléculaire, avec la mise en place de modèles cellulaires et animaux.
Elle est élue à la direction du département des sciences de la vie de l'U.N.S. de 2005 à 2008, puis est élue directrice de l'U.F.R. sciences en 2009, poste qu’elle occupe jusqu’en 2012, date à laquelle elle est élue présidente de l’université. Voir l'article...

Biographie de Frédérique Vidal, Ministre de l'Enseignement supérieur, de la Recherche et de l'Innovation

Avant d'être nommée Ministre de l'Enseignement Supérieur, de la Recherche et de l'Innovation, Frédérique Vidal était Présidente de l'Université de Nice-Sophia-Antipolis (UNS), depuis 2012.
Titulaire d'une maîtrise de biochimie à l'Université Nice-Sophia-Antipolis, d'un DEA à l'Institut Pasteur, et d'un doctorat à l'Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis, elle y est recrutée en tant que Maître de conférences en 1995.
Frédérique Vidal était, depuis 2004, professeure des universités en biochimie, biologie moléculaire et cellulaire, à l'UNS.
Elle y a par ailleurs occupé la fonction de directrice adjointe du département des sciences de la vie, de 2007 à 2009, a été nommée assesseur à la recherche auprès du doyen de la faculté, puis directrice du département dès 2009.
Elle était auparavant responsable des stages, puis directrice adjointe du magistère de pharmacologie. Voir l'article...
