Europe in dialogue with South Africa, eyeing BRICS

Kuwait to help boost higher education in Africa Wagdy Sawahel

Wake-up call for the higher education sector

The university community in Nigeria has welcomed the scrapping by the British government of a controversial proposed £3,000 (US$4,900) security visa bond for ‘high risk’ foreign visitors, including international students from Nigeria. Nigeria had advised the British government not to develop policies that might scare away Nigerian students, who constitute the third largest foreign student population after China and India. Plan to impose tuition fees for non-EU students

Norway's coalition government is investigating ways of introducing tuition fees for students from outside the European Union and European Economic Area, on the grounds that such fees have already been introduced in Switzerland, Sweden and Denmark. Only ‘loyal’ Uyghurs will get degrees, says government

Paris beats London for second year running in student city stakes

High tuition fees and cost of living have lost London the top place in the QS Best Student Cities Index for the second year in a row, while North American cities fare less well than those in Europe, the Far East and Australia. 
The highest placed North American city is Boston, in eighth place after Singapore (3), Sydney (4), Melbourne and Zurich (joint 5), and Hong Kong (7). Montreal is ranked ninth and Munich tenth. Read more...

Military research turns into explosive issue
