Unis und Unternehmen wollen ausländische Studenten ködern

Werbung für Deutschland: Absolventen aus technischen und naturwissenschaftlichen Studiengängen werden dringend gesucht - jetzt will eine Initiative gezielt Studenten aus dem Ausland anlocken.
Auf der Suche nach Fachkräften in technischen und naturwissenschaftlichen Berufen wollen Hochschulen und Arbeitgeber nun systematisch Studenten aus dem Ausland anwerben. So wird das Nationale MINT-Forum von Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft am Donnerstag bei einem Kongress in Berlin Bund und Länder auffordern, die Werbung um ausländische Studenten zu unterstützen. Mehr...

In diesen Tagen schreiben die meisten Abiturienten die vielleicht wichtigsten Klausuren ihres Lebens. Im Kopf sind viele aber schon einen Schritt weiter: Was soll ich wo studieren? Was ist anders als in der Schule?
Der Student: An der Uni hat man keinen Lehrer, der fragt, ob man seine Hausaufgaben gemacht hat oder warum man nicht zum Unterricht erschienen ist. Man muss sich selber dazu motivieren, hinzugehen und zu lernen. In der ersten Zeit fand ich das ganz schön schwer, aber man stellt sich dann doch schnell darauf ein. Ulm hat eine der besten jungen Hochschulen der Welt

Von Anne-Kathrin Gerstlauer. Das Magazin "Times Higher Education" bewertet Hochschulen, die jünger als 50 Jahre sind und zu neuen Elite-Institutionen werden könnten. Die Uni Ulm steht auf Platz 16. Deutschlands Universitäten landen in internationalen Uni-Rankings traditionell nur im Mittelfeld, zu groß ist die Dominanz der Hochschulen aus den USA und Großbritannien. US empowers future teachers through university scholarships

The US Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded scholarships to 26 students enrolled in undergraduate degree programmes at the International Islamic University (IIU) in Islamabad as part of the $165 million Pakistan Reading Project. The scholarships will pay for tuition and supplies as well as provide a stipend to recipients. The US Government will provide more than 4,500 scholarships to aspiring teachers. More...

Call to increase education budget for economic growth

The government should focus on youth employment schemes, energy crisis and loan investment schemes and bring everyone in tax net in the next budget as a majority of youth is unsatisfied with the government initiatives. Peking University offers postgraduate program on China Studies to global students

Peking University opened the Yanjing School on May 5 2014. The school is intended to provide a one year postgraduate program on China Studies. Itwill recruit 100 fresh graduates for 2015 from around the world. 35 will come from theChinese mainland and the other 65 from Hong Kong, Macau and other countries. More...

Singapore takes third spot in global education rankings

Singapore’s education system has won another accolade – this time in a cognitive skills and educational attainment index comparing 39 countries and one region, Hong Kong. The school system here has been ranked third after South Korea and Japan, and one place above Hong Kong in the index, according to The Learning Curve report published by education firm Pearson.
