La Universidad Jean Monnet, fundada en 1969, es una universidad pluridisciplinaria.

Investigación
Para llevar a cabo su política científica, la universidad cuenta con 422 profesores-investigadores e investigadores reunidos en sus unidades de investigación. El dispositivo investigación gira en torno a 34 unidades de investigación reconocidos que cubren los principales sectores disciplinarios, 5 estructuras federativas (química, salud, bio-imágenes, prensas universitarias, estudios de religiones y laicidad).
La universidad está acreditada para 6 Escuelas doctorales : Ciencias e Ingeniería de la Salud, Letras, Lenguas, Lingüística, Artes, Historia, Geografía, Ordenación, Arqueología, Sociología, Antropología, Ciencias políticas, Ciencias de la educación, Información y comunicación, Psicología, Derecho, Ciencias económicas y de gestión.
Situación geográfica
Saint-Etienne, situado en la región Rhône-Alpes, todo el encanto de Saint-Etienne reside en su sencillez y en su tamaño a escala humana que combina generosidad, amabilidad y urbanidad, a la vez que aprovecha un entorno natural de calidad (Parque Regional Natural del Pilat.) Université Saint-Etienne (Jean Monnet) - Saint Etienne

Université Jean Monnet, founded in 1969, is a comprehensive university enrolling approximately 17,000 students.
It consists of
• 5 faculties: Arts, letters, and languages; humanities and social sciences; law; science and technology; and medicine.
• 4 institutes: Institute of business administration; Télécom Saint-Etienne (a school of engineering); and the Saint-Etienne and Roanne university institutes of technology.
Main programmes of study
Université Jean Monnet de Saint-Etienne offers nearly 300 programs leading to national diplomas in arts, letters, and languages; humanities and social sciences; law, economics, and management; sports; health; and science and technology. The university is an active participant in international projects financed through various programs:

• Integrated Landscape Management for Sustainable Development
• Erasmus Mundus master’s programs: Color in Informatics and Media Technology (CIMET) - Cultural Landscapes (MACLAND)
• Master in Economics and Management, concentration in regional development consulting, with University of Manouba, Tunisia
• Imoptics” master, with University of Grenada, Spain
• Franco-Norwegian master: Master in 3D Multimedia Technology
• Franco-Spanish master: Master in Machine Learning and Data Mining - Imoptics” Master
• French as a foreign language (CILEC)
Research
Shaping the university’s science policy are 422 faculty members and research scholars organized into thematic research units. 34 research units are active in the principal academic disciplines, 5 overarching entities (chemistry, health, bio-imaging, university presses, religious and lay studies).
The university has six accredited doctoral programs: health science and technology; literature, language, linguistics, and arts; history, geography, regional planning, archaeology, sociology, anthropology, and political science; education, information, communication, and psychology; law; and economics and management.
