Budget rises to support higher education development

Senate orders review of universities admissions policy

China ups Africa support with training, scholarships

Higher education, skills training rises up the China-Africa agenda

In Africa Analysis, following a major summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation where a new collaboration agenda was announced, Simon Ngalomba looks at China’s growing presence in higher education in Africa and the role of Confucius Institutes. South African Minister of Science and Technology Naledi Pandor welcomes a book on doctoral education that reveals new approaches the country can take for a ‘radical rethink’ to meet its PhD targets.
In Africa Features, Wachira Kigotho unpacks a World Bank report that shows steady progress in research but a decline in the fields of STEM – science, technology, engineering and maths. Munyaradzi Makoni charts developments in Eritrea’s challenged higher education sector that indicate the country may be turning a corner after a war-torn past.
In a Q&A, Brendan O'Malley interviews Ukraine’s Minister of Education and Science Serhiy Kvit about the country’s struggle to reform higher education and shake off a Soviet-era legacy of state control. Problems that are limiting Ukraine’s attractiveness to international students – such as low quality, red tape and corruption – are described by Ararat L Osipian in a Special Report on student mobility that also features articles from Germany and Saudi Arabia.
In Commentary, Paul Ayris says that the League of European Research Universities' Statement on Open Access has the power to change the way research is published and disseminated across the globe. AGEFICE - Opération Mallette du Dirigeant 2016

Reconduction de l’opération « Mallette du Dirigeant » sur 2016
Projet
Initiée au cours de l’année 2014, l’opération « Mallette du Dirigeant » avait pour but de mettre en place une action exceptionnelle, à l’initiative de l’AGEFICE et à destination des Dirigeants ressortissants ainsi que de leurs conjoints-collaborateurs et associés.
Aux vues des résultats de la première opération, et conforté par ceux enregistrés en 2015 (dans un format légèrement modifié), le Conseil d’Administration a décidé d’en reconduire le principe en 2016.
Le financement de la « Mallette du Dirigeant » est imputé sur une enveloppe dédiée et indépendante de l’enveloppe budgétaire allouée annuellement aux Chefs d’entreprise.

Principes généraux
Pour l’année 2016, 4 axes thématiques ont été retenus par le Conseil d’Administration :

  • Comptabilité-Analyse financière-Interprétation de tableaux de bord ;
  • Nouvelles technologies et compétences numériques ;
  • Marketing et communication ;
  • Ressources humaines et management.

Le cadre de l'opération « Mallette du Dirigeant 2016 » restera très proche de celui arrêté l'année passée :

  • Des formations courtes,
  • Ciblées sur les besoins des Dirigeants d'entreprise,
  • Qui s’adressent aux Dirigeants d’entreprise qui relèvent de l’AGEFICE ainsi qu’à leurs Conjoints-collaborateurs et associés,
  • Qui peuvent concerner des entreprises créées dans l'année,
  • Qui bénéficient de critères financiers propres à cette opération,
  • Qui ne sont pas imputées sur l’enveloppe annuelle du Chef d’entreprise,
  • Qui peuvent donner lieu à une délégation de paiement dispensant le Chef d’Entreprise de faire l’avance de fonds.
