'Varsities down on women'

Higher education institutions remain stubbornly resistant to gender transformation, with their top management male dominated and women perceived as "unproductive" or "not worthy" of senior positions.
This is according to research by the Higher Education Transformation Network, which intended to question staff at North West University, Pretoria University and Tshwane University of Technology, but only TUT participated.

U.S. Publishes Details on Religious Colleges Seeking Title IX Waivers

Such waivers allow the colleges to receive federal funding without violating their religious beliefs. But the exemptions are controversial: Last year the Human Rights Campaign, an advocacy group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rights, published a report stating that a growing number of institutions were seeking and receiving the waivers, in order to be able to discriminate against LGBT students without jeopardizing their federal funds.
