Report on French higher education strategy now available
The French government has just published its first higher education strategy, entitled "Fostering a Learning Society". The document identifies five strategic priorities, three levers and 40 proposals to be enacted upon over the next ten years.

EMOOCs 2016 Conference, 22-24 February 2016, Graz (Austria)
The European MOOCs Stakeholders’ Summit will be held on 22-24 February 2016 in Graz, Austria. The keynote speeches will be delivered by Anant Aggarwal, CEO of edX, an online learning destination founded by Harvard and MIT, and Pierre Dillenbourg, Academic Director of the Center for Digital Education at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and head of the Computer-Human Interaction in Learning and Instruction (CHILI) lab.

Innovative Doctoral Training – Perspectives from Universities of Science and Technology, 13 October 2015, Brussels (Belgium)
On 13 October, five principal European associations of Universities of Science, Technology and Engineering – CESAER, CLUSTER, EuroTech Universities Alliance, IDEA League and Nordic Five Tech – are organising an event to launch a joint discussion paper in relation to strategies and best practices in implementing the principles of innovative doctoral training, as well as promoting open discussion among the key European stakeholders and the audience.

EUA presents first interactive map of university mergers
Mergers and concentration processes are on the rise in the university sector. Close to 100 cases over the past 15 years have been listed by the European University Association. They now feature in EUA’s University Merger Tool, www.university-mergers.eu, the first interactive online map of the institutions borne out of these processes.
Whether mergers/clusters are part of large-scale restructuring of the higher education and research landscape or a response to local challenges, public authorities as well as university leaders and managers need to overcome similar issues. The University Merger Tool intends to support them by helping to identify previous cases of interest, and thus foster the exchange of experiences and good practice across borders. More...
