Focus on: Are education systems focusing on the right skills?

European Commission logoAre education systems focusing on developing the right skills at school and universities? Societies are ageing, workforces are shrinking, productivity is slowing, radicalism is growing, and young people are aspiring to jobs with maximum security. Is Europe losing its dynamism? Its innovative capacity? And if things continue on the same path, what will be the consequences for our way of living and position on the international stage?
A recent Eurydice report on entrepreneurship education sheds some light on this question. It suggests that most education systems (29 out of 38) have a strategy in place for developing entrepreneurship education. However, it also identifies the lack of clear learning outcomes and the link to assessment as one of the main hindrances to the development of effective and high quality entrepreneurship education. New report on how to prevent and tackle bullying and school violence

European Commission logoThe values of freedom, tolerance, respect for diversity and non-discrimination are cornerstones of European societies.  School bullying goes against these values. It is also a key factor in early school leaving, and has serious and long-term effects for both victims and perpetrators. It affects mental and physical health as well as the academic performance of children and young people.
​This report raises awareness about the prevalence of school bullying in many EU countries and highlights key lessons emerging from the most relevant European and international research that can support policy and practice against such bullying. More...

Still no response to damning World Bank report

The report, titled Expanding Tertiary Education for Well-paid Jobs: Competitiveness and shared prosperity in Kenya, indicates that the Higher Education Loans Board or HELB is spending excessive money on administrative costs that could be added to students’ loans. Titres professionnels du Ministère du travail : rapport 2015 sur le devenir des candidats

Gip Corse CompétencesL’objectif de ce rapport est  de mesurer le devenir professionnel des stagiaires 6 mois après leur sortie de formation. L' étude a mis en avant que 70,8 % des demandeurs d'emploi détenteurs d'un titre professionnel du Ministère du travail ont accédé à l'emploi dans les six mois suivant leur certification. Ce taux atteint même 80.5 % des certifiés par la voie de la VAE. Voir l'article...
