Social model event ‘excellent illustration’ of agencies’ contribution
EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, Laszlo Andor, in his speech at the seminar organised jointly by the European Parliament, Cedefop, ETF, EU-Osha and Eurofound, congratulated the four EU agencies on their contribution to the European social model adding that the event was an ‘excellent illustration’ of their work. The event prompted a debate by MEPs of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs, senior European officials, social partners’ representatives and the agencies’ directors on how the social model needs to evolve in order to be sustainable.

Students speak out about their experiences in MOOCs
A new e-book called Learner Experiences with MOOCs and Open Online Learning has just ben published by Hybrid Pedagogy, a digital education journal. The book contains ten student essays about their first-hand experiences in open education, particularly MOOCs.
The rise in popularity and availability of MOOCs has created an abundance of data about learner behaviour in open online learning environments. According to Prof. George Veletsianos, however, there is a lack of student voices in the conversations around educational innovations such as MOOCs. To address this gap, he approached Hybrid Pedagogy about publishing a book of student essays on their experiences in a variety of MOOCs.
