Libraries test a model for setting monographs free

Universities a battleground for capturing youth vote

Recent opinion polls and commentators agree that first-time voters could be a significant factor influencing the outcome. German-supported computer centre opens in Kandahar

By Michael Gardner. The latest of Afghanistan's five planned national research centres has been opened at Kandahar University. The centres are being set up by the German Academic Exchange Service, or DAAD, in cooperation with the Technical University of Berlin. The computer centres are the cornerstones of a nationwide academic IT network. Funding has been provided by the German foreign office. Read more...

First global contest over innovative pedagogy

The first global competition for the "most innovative pedagogical approaches in higher education" was announced last week by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in the United States and London-based QS Quacquarelli Symonds, which publishes the QS World University Rankings. Called "The Wharton-QS Stars Awards 2014 - Reimagine Education", the contest will provide all universities and enterprises around the world with opportunities to showcase innovation in e-learning, blended and classroom-based learning. Universities across continents explore Glocal Classroom
