Torrens University Australia to attract Spanish, South American students
ADELAIDE'S newest university campus will attract hundreds of Spanish and Latin American students keen to study and work in Australia.Torrens University Australia, as it will be known, will begin classes in 2014.
It is part of the US-based Laureate International Universities network.
This week the university appointed Professor Fred McDougall as founding vice-chancellor and president.
A former University of Adelaide deputy vice-chancellor and vice-president, Prof McDougall said every student at Laureate's 60-plus institutions worldwide must undertake study abroad within the university network, meaning the Adelaide campus would attract a growing number of internationals.
It follows the latest Education Adelaide report, which found Australia had lost 9.6 per cent of its international students, while English-speaking competitors Canada, the US and UK experienced major growth. Read more...
