Priority will be given to papers on adult education, non-formal education and literacy, and formal education viewed through the lens of lifelong learning. NTEU: Less than half of university jobs are permanent as casual jobs skyrocket

University staffing data published by the Department, shows this year that full time equivalent (FTE) of secure, ongoing positions at universities has dropped to 49.1%. In 2017 the figure was 52.2% - this 2.2% decline represents the loss of 1,403 secure positions at universities in one year – reflecting a continuing decline in ongoing employment in the past decade (see attached charts). 2018-19 MYEFO

The MYEFO revealed a substantial financial windfall to the government in the form of higher revenue and lower expenditure compared to forecasts included in the 2018-19 federal Budget delivered in May by then Treasurer, Scott Morrison.  The main reason for this windfall gain and the improved budget bottom line was due to increased corporate tax revenue as result of higher than expected iron ore and coal price and reduced spending on welfare payments.
