Hungarian Diaspora Council expresses support for the Minority SafePack Initiative

The FUEN President pointed out that Budapest has expressed solidarity with the Hungarian minority communities living outside of Hungary, just as Germany supports the initiative that will grant protection for German speaking communities in Europe. Vincze Loránt presented the Minority SafePack Initiative and asked the representatives of the council to join the petition campaign and help spread the news about the initiative in minority communities, towards majority communities, and to other diaspora organisations. The petition campaign for the Minority SafePack Initiative has officially been launched in Austria today

Under the motto My language is part of the European diversity the petition campaign for the Minority Safepack Initiative has been officially launched today in Wien, Austria. The event was marked by a press conference held on the matter by FUEN President Vincze Lóránt, Luis Durnwalder, the former Governor of South-Tyrol, FUEN Vice-president Daniel Alfreider, the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austrian diplomat of Carinthian Slovene origin Valentin Inzko, who is currently serving as and the representatives of the Burgenland Croats and Carinthian Slovenes. Minority SafePack Initiative: the first 100,000 signatures

In September the FUEN put together a European campaign strategy for the Minority SafePack Initiative and has a campaign team that has been in contact with the Member Organisations and regions. The new website, focusing on easy-to-understand stories from all across Europe was launched along with an MSPI booklet together with other promotional materials. The European Commission has also updated the petition site, which is now accessible also from mobile devices. More...

The Minority SafePack Initiative has powerful friends in the Council of Europe

It is important for the Minority SafePack European Citizen’s Initiative to have support from within the Council of Europe. The Federal President of Germany visited the FUEN in Flensburg

The Federal President of Germany Mr Frank-Walter Steinmeier visited the Federal Union of European Nationalities in the office of the House of Minorities in Flensburg yesterday, October 5th. FUEN President Mr Loránt Vincze greeted the guests on behalf of the European minority umbrella organisation. The President of Germany is currently in Schleswig-Holstein as part of his inaugural visit to the federal states. Mr Steinmeier aimed to visit the FUEN to learn about the activities in the House of Minorities project, which is a “Place of democracy”. Strong cooperation between German Federal State of Schleswig-Holstein and FUEN

The cooperation between Schleswig-Holstein and the FUEN lies on solid grounds and it should be intensified in the future. This was the conclusion of the meeting that took place on Wednesday, October 4th, in Kiel between the Minority Commissioner of Schleswig-Holstein, Mr. Johannes Callsen and the FUEN delegation led by President Loránt Vincze. Support for the Minority SafePack in the border region

The autochthonous minorities support the Minority SafePack Initiative. It is a meaningful project even for those minorities which are satisfied with their current state, such as the minorities from the German-Danish Borderregion. It could be a reassurance from the EU that their rights could no be taken away regardless of political changes in their Member States. More...

The petition campaign for the Minority SafePack Initiative has been officially launched in Maros county, Transylvania

Romania seizes every opportunity to express its disagreement with the Initiative, and it sued the European Commission for registering the MSPI. The update in the story is that the Slovakian government decided to join the lawsuit on the side of the plaintiff – said Vincze Loránt adding that in his view the decision of the Slovakian government is not an unexpected one, and that this attitude shows that minority rights are far from being guaranteed in these courtiers. Willkommen, Velkommen, Wäljkiimen, Welcome, Dobrodošli

This year's focus is on the implementation of local projects and the promotion of cooperation between authorities and civil society in the Western Balkans. One such project, which is supervised by the FUEN, is an office for minority commissioner in Bijeljina in Bosnia and Hercegovina. To this end, the representatives of the minority NGOs and municipality of Bijeljina have completed a training with Ms. Linda Pieper from Schleswig-Holstein’s state chancellery’s department for external relations and national minorities.
