By Jennifer Veitch. In its April 9 editorial, the Citizen posed the question: “Do we still need the National Research Council?” Speaking as an individual Canadian, I offer this answer.
NRC occupies a unique position across science-engineering-R&D-innovation that is difficult for those outside it to fully appreciate. Its activities, its relationships with outside partners and the rest of government, its facilities and its blend of scientific and engineering disciplines in focused teams make it unlike any other organization.
