Challenges Of And Opportunities In Funding Model For Public Research Universities

At a time when public discussion of higher education has focused on a perceived growth in non-academic expenditures, public research universities continue to devote most of their resources to their core activities: teaching and research. Despite this prioritization, as states have continued to reduce their contributions to public research universities, tuition is now the principal revenue source for many of these institutions.
These are some of the findings from Public Research Universities: Understanding the Financial Model, a new publication released today from the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. An initiative of the American Academy, The Lincoln Project: Excellence and Access in Public Higher Education is studying the importance of public research universities, analyzing economic trends affecting their operations, and recommending new strategies to sustain these critical institutions. Recherche publique : la CPU s’engage aux côtés du réseau C.U.R.I.E

Dans le cadre de leurs missions respectives, la CPU et le Réseau C.U.R.I.E ont décidé de renforcer leurs liens par la signature d’une convention de partenariat.

Projets ANR, le taux de réussite va augmenter (décret présidentiel)

Sur le blog Gaïa Universitas. Il parait que le président F. Hollande a décrété que le taux de réussite des projets ANR allait passer cette année de 8 à 14 %. Il passerait même à 20 % en 2017, pour la prochaine campagne. Voir l'article...

Morcellement des tutelles, morcellement des statuts des personnels de la recherche

Sur le blog Gaïa Universitas. B. Attali, dans son rapport sur l’école Polytechnique (lire ici), s’interroge sur le pilotage de la recherche dans l’institution. Il note que « une des faiblesses majeures de l’X est assurément la répartition des personnels de recherche entre différentes tutelles : sur les 900 personnes qui travaillent au centre de recherche de l’École polytechnique (doctorants et post-doctorants non compris), seul un quart est salarié de l’École polytechnique !». Il fait là allusion à la présence en nombre de chercheurs d’organismes de recherche dans les laboratoires de l’école. Voir l'article...
