The Case for Lower-Cost, High-Quality Online Degrees

The EvoLLLutionBy  - EvoLLLution. 1. Why is it possible for online degrees to cost less than their face-to-face peers when the quality of education and outcomes are the same?
We’ve been teaching online for 12 years now and we’ve made a large investment in Berklee Online. We’re able to deliver high-quality education at a cost that’s lower than the on-campus experience. The on-campus students receive all kinds accouterments that aren’t available to the online students, so we’re not supporting practice rooms and ensemble rooms and recording studios and all of the facilities and the various counseling services. Online Student Life

http://www.insidehighered.com/sites/default/server_files/styles/large/public/confessions_of_a_community_college_dean_blog_header.jpgBy Matt Reed. Most campus-based colleges have some form of a “student activities” or “student life” office. That office runs a slate of programs for students, ranging from co-curricular to extracurricular to just-for-fun. (Rule of thumb: the office that runs “Spring Fling” is Student Life.)  The idea is to help students blow off steam, connect with each other, connect with the college, and engage more with the world. Read more...

http://www.insidehighered.com/sites/default/server_files/styles/blog_landing/public/technology_and_learning_blog_header.jpg?itok=aQthgJ91By Joshua Kim. I had one of the weird out-of-body experiences while walking around the vendor floor at EDUCAUSE today.
