A l’heure où la transition écologique vers un développement durable devient pour toute la société un enjeu à relever d’urgence tous ensemble, les établissements d’enseignement supérieur ont un rôle extrêmement important à jouer, tant sur le plan de la formation que celui de leur excellence propre : chacun le sait, la meilleure pédagogie se fait par l’exemple. Pour cela, la conférence des présidents d’université (CPU) et la conférence des grandes écoles (CGE), avec le ministère de l’Écologie, avaient lancé le 17 juin 2010 le Plan Vert, dispositif élaboré ensemble en application de l’article 55 de la loi du 3 août 2009 ⁽¹⁾ , et destiné à aider les établissements d’enseignement supérieur à élaborer leur propre démarche de développement durable, dans toutes ses composantes : protection et à la valorisation de l’environnement, développement économique, progrès social. The challenges of greening the economy and the implications for employment and skills vary across regions and local areas, depending on their economic and industrial structure, as well as their current and potential innovative activities. Despite these national differences, sustained and inclusive employment is a shared objective for policy makers in all types of localities.

The 2nd Green Skills Forum will have a special focus on the links between skills and knowledge needs and inclusive green growth. Experts in innovation, employability and skills development policies will draw lessons from work conducted by Cedefop, the OECD and other organisations in this area. The discussions will help identify the obstacles and challenges lying ahead for the development of skills, education and training policies. The Forum’s outcomes will contribute to inform new work to be conducted to address the transition of labour markets to greener employment growth.

By Jamie Merisotis. In urban planning circles, smart growth refers to the infrastructure development strategies cities employ in hopes of creating more sustainable and successful communities. But, what about the other smart growth -- the approach that involves investing in the development of our citizens, our human capital? 
In his book Triumph of the City, economist Edward Glaeser said, "Human capital, far more than physical infrastructure, explains which cities succeed. The share of the population with a college degree is used to estimate the skill level of a place, and no other measure does better in explaining recent urban prosperity. As the share of the population with college degrees increases by 10 percent, per capita gross metropolitan product rises by 22 percent." 
That's a powerful indicator to city leaders on where they should invest, and research has shown time and time again that there is a direct correlation between thriving cities and postsecondary education. More...

Le succès a été au rendez-vous pour les 7e Assises nationales du développement durable organisées par la Région Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur en partenariat avec l’ARF: 1776 participants sont venus débattre les 25 et 26 novembre 2013 à Marseille sur le thème  «le développement durable, levier de sortie de crises?» 
Les comptes rendus des ateliers, side-events, toiles de fonds et tables rondes seront publiés très prochainement. En attendant vous pouvez revivre ces 7ème Assises Nationales du Développement Durable en vidéo sur le site des ANDD. 
Parmi les participants, Bérengère, Léonard et Théo, trois jeunes venus tout spécialement des Pays de la Loire, ont pu faire passer leurs idées pour avancer sur la voie du développement durable équitable pour tous.
