Universities funding rise of 5% is far short of needs

Kenya has upped spending on public universities by a meagre 5% for the new fiscal year starting in July, potentially slowing down expansionary projects. First fellows selected for African diaspora initiative

A first round of 33 African-born academics working in North America have been selected for 31 projects at 24 universities across Africa under the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program – and a deadline for new applications is looming. Scholars in the diaspora are being supported to return to Africa for academic collaborations initiated by African institutions.
The deadline for a second application cycle is 21 July, and diaspora scholars and African host institutions are being urged to apply now. Read more...

Online model for tertiary education can solve varsity seats shortage —Don

New research, HE, development and innovation project

Survey finds most East African graduates ‘half-baked’

Apollo Education Group Acquires South African Education Company

The Apollo Education Group announced on Tuesday that its Apollo Global subsidiary had acquired a South African education company that specializes in business education. In the deal, Apollo paid about 265 million South African rand, or roughly $25.6-million, to acquire an 81-percent stake in Milpark Education (Pty) Ltd.
