Programming Championship - European and East Asian Universities Dominate

The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest is sponsored by IBM and began in 1970 when it was known as the Annual Texas Collegiate Programming Championship. The current format is teams composed of three university students competing to solve a number of programming problems.
